Breaking Down Barriers: Street2Boardroom Featured in New Higher Education Book - Street2Boardroom

We’re excited to announce that Street2Boardroom is featured in a new book that explores how higher education can better support individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The book, “Inclusive Adult Education: Embedding Diversity and Supporting Alternative Learning Environments in UK Higher Education” delves into the challenges faced by marginalised groups in accessing and succeeding in higher education, including those with offending histories or those at risk of offending.

In a chapter titled “From ‘Drug Dealers’ to Legitimate Entrepreneurs: The Street2Boardroom Programme as an Alternative Form of Adult Learning—A Conversation with Clayton Planter” (pages 149-161), our founder, Clayton Planter, engages in a conversation with leading academics, Debbie Jones and Mark Jones.

This chapter explores how Street2Boardroom is breaking down barriers and empowering individuals to achieve their full potential. It discusses how our innovative training programs, made from the recognition that the current system often rejects certain types of people, preventing them from reaching their full potential, from finding positive role models that they can genuinely relate to and ultimately re-joining society, can be integrated into higher education settings, offering valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and anyone interested in creating more inclusive and accessible learning environments. It also considers the challenges and benefits of bringing this program into higher education, and what the role of Street2Boardroom is in supporting marginalised groups through the delivery of innovative training programs.

This book is a valuable resource for anyone working to make higher education more inclusive and equitable. We encourage you to learn more and explore the groundbreaking research and insights presented within.
