Street2Boardroom Joins Crime Day Event at the University of Bristol - Street2Boardroom

Clayton Planter, founder of Street2Boardroom, celebrates the first ever UN International Day Against Transnational Organised Crime with an inspiring talk at the University of Bristol.

Street2Boardroom has always disrupted the status quo. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse and often disadvantaged backgrounds, including those with experiences of street crime. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their past.

The recent International Day Against Transnational Organised Crime, marked by the UN on November 15th, served as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address this global issue. With over 59,000 people involved in serious and organised crime in the UK alone, the devastating consequences are undeniable. These crimes disrupt communities, harm individuals and families, and hinder socio-economic growth.

Street2Boardroom has consistently championed the empowerment of individuals from underprivileged backgrounds. Our mission resonated strongly at Bristol University’s “Crime Day,” an event focused on exploring the root causes and potential solutions to the complex issue of organised crime. The event brought together academics, activists, and experts for a day of insightful discussions and knowledge sharing.

Our founder, Clayton Planter, was a key speaker at the event. During an hour-long Q&A session, Clayton captivated the audience with his insights on how to leverage “street skills” – resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness – to build successful businesses. He shared how Street2Boardroom provides mentorship, training, and support to individuals with past involvement in crime, empowering them to build new futures.

Clayton’s passion and innovative approach to tackling the root causes of crime were widely praised. Raphaël Lefèvre, a Senior Lecturer in International Relations, remarked,

Clayton was one of the stars of Crime Day which we celebrated to mark the UN’s Day Against Organised Crime here at the University of Bristol. Clayton’s role as creative entrepreneur and head of Street 2 Boardroom is truly inspiring and he captivated an audience curious to hear more about how he and his organisation were able to address the roots of crime in Bristol by turning the street skills of at-risk youths into legitimate business skills.

Street2Boardroom’s work serves as a powerful example of how to empower individuals and create positive change within communities. We believe that by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth, we can break the cycle of crime and build a more just and equitable society.
