Clayton Planter, Founder of Street2Boardroom, embodies the power of breaking free from the limitations of your environment. Growing up, surrounded by the allure of “the boss men” with their wealth and extravagant lifestyles, Clayton faced a common struggle: the pull of the streets. However, his mother recognised his potential and ensured he received a quality education, opening doors to a different world.

Clayton did well in school and built a good career for himself. Yet, he never forgot his roots and witnessed the struggles of his friends who faced challenges like limited opportunities and run ins with the law. He wanted to help them, so he started Street2Boardroom – an organisation dedicated to empowering individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

As Founder of Street2Boardroom, Clayton switches between both the corporate world and the realities of life on the streets. He understands the unique skills and resilience developed within challenging environments and believes these qualities can be used for success in business and beyond.

Beyond his work with Street2Boardroom, Clayton inspires audiences across the UK with his powerful motivational talks. From university lecture halls to global platforms like TEDx, he brings a unique perspective to the discourse, shedding light on the often-overlooked experiences and potential of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Clayton was one of the stars of Crime Day which we celebrated to mark the UN’s Day Against Organised Crime here at the University of Bristol.
